Harry Potter Lawsuit
(wgvu) - NEW YORK (AP) - The author of a Harry Potter encyclopedia cried
on the witness stand today in the New York federal court trial of a
copyright infringement suit brought by the writer of the fantasy
novel series.
J.K. Rowling sued Muskegon, Michigan-based RDR Books, saying
that the encyclopedia violated her copyrights.
The publisher says it has a right to excerpt from the Harry
Potter series in the encyclopedia.
Steven Vander Ark wrote the "Harry Potter Lexicon" and
testified he's been hurt by criticism of his encyclopedia since the
suit was filed.
Rowling also testified this week in the non-jury trial.
