FIEGER INDICTED
(2008-04-10)
(wgvu) - HIGH-PROFILE LAWYER GEOFFREY FIEGER HAS ASKED A
FEDERAL JUDGE TO MOVE HIS UPCOMING CRIMINAL TRIAL OUT OF DETROIT.
FIEGER AND LAW PARTNER VEN JOHNSON ARE ACCUSED OF SUBMITTING
$127,000 IN ILLEGAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE 2004 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN
OF DEMOCRAT JOHN EDWARDS.
FIEGER ALSO HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE.
THE TWO MEN HAVE PLEADED NOT GUILTY.
FIEGER'S ATTORNEY TOLD A FEDERAL JUDGE THAT "SCORES" OF
POTENTIAL JURORS DISLIKE FIEGER AND HIS PAST REPRESENTATION OF
SUICIDE ADVOCATE JACK KEVORKIAN.
THE JUDGE SAYS IT'S TOO SOON TO SAY WHETHER A FAIR JURY CAN BE
FOUND.
JURY SELECTION STARTS MONDAY.
