(wgvu) - A JURY HAS CONVICTED A MAN OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER IN THE SEX-SLAYING OF A FELLOW STUDENT IN HER EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY DORM ROOM. THE SCHOOL FIRED ITS PRESIDENT AND PAID FEDERAL FINES FOR COVERING UP THE DEATH. AN EARLIER TRIAL ENDED IN A HUNG JURY. THE WASHTENAW COUNTY JURY FOUND ORANGE TAYLOR III OF SOUTHFIELD GUILTY OF MURDER, ATTEMPTED RAPE, HOME INVASION AND THEFT CHARGES. THE 21-YEAR-OLD FACES A MANDATORY TERM OF LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT PAROLE WHEN SENTENCED MAY 7. TAYLOR WAS CHARGED IN THE DECEMBER 2006 DEATH OF 22-YEAR-OLD LAURA DICKINSON OF HASTINGS IN HER DORM ROOM AT THE YPSILANTI SCHOOL.
