SMARTER THAN THE SMITHSONIAN?
(2008-04-03)
(wgvu) - MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVE PARADED PAST THE
TOWER OF TIME EXHIBIT AT THE SMITHSONIAN'S NATIONAL MUSEUM OF
NATURAL HISTORY IN WASHINGTON.
BUT 11-YEAR-OLD KENTON STUFFLEBEAM OF ALLEGAN IS THE FIRST
VISITOR TO HAVE CAUGHT A PARTICULAR MISTAKE THERE.
KENTON AND HIS FAMILY VISITED THE MUSEUM DURING WINTER BREAK. HE
NOTICED THAT THE TOWER OF TIME, WHICH INVOLVES PREHISTORIC TIME,
REFERRED TO THE PRECAMBRIAN ERA.
KENTON KNEW THAT ITS PROPER NAME WAS JUST THE PRECAMBRIAN,
WITHOUT THE "ERA." HE LEFT A NOTE WITH HIS CONCERN. MUSEUM
OFFICIALS WROTE HIM BACK LAST WEEK, TELLING HIM HE WAS RIGHT.
THE FIFTH-GRADER NOTES THAT THEY MISSPELLED HIS LAST NAME AND
HOMETOWN.
