(2008-04-02)
(wgvu) - LEADERS OF DETROIT'S LARGEST EMPLOYEE UNION ARE THE LATEST TO CALL ON THE CITY'S EMBATTLED MAYOR TO STEP DOWN.
THE DEMAND COMES FROM LEAMON WILSON, WHO CHAIRS A COMMITTEE OF 18 PRESIDENTS OF AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES LOCAL UNIONS, WHOSE MEMBERS ARE CITY WORKERS.
WILSON SAYS UNION LEADERS ARE
CONCERNED THAT THE FELONY CHARGES FACING KILPATRICK WILL UNDERMINE
UPCOMING CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS.
KILPATRICK AND HIS FORMER CHIEF OF STAFF, CHRISTINE BEATTY, HAVE
BEEN CHARGED WITH LYING UNDER OATH LAST SUMMER DURING A
WHISTLE-BLOWERS' TRIAL WHEN THEY DENIED HAVING A ROMANTIC
