PRIMARY SCRAMBLE
(2008-04-01)
(wgvu) - A MICHIGAN CONGRESSMAN HAS AN ALTERNATE PLAN
FOR SEATING THE STATE'S 156 DELEGATES AT THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL
CONVENTION.
THE PARTY STRIPPED BOTH MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA OF THEIR CONVENTION
DELEGATES BECAUSE THEY HELD EARLY PRIMARIES.
DEMOCRATIC REPRESENTATIVE BART STUPAK OF MENOMINEE WANTS
MICHIGAN'S DELEGATES AWARDED PARTLY ON THE RESULTS OF THE JANUARY
15TH PRIMARY AND PARTLY ON THE POPULAR VOTE IN ALL THE NATION'S
PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES.
UNDER THE FORMULA, HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON WOULD GET 47 DELEGATES
AND BARACK OBAMA WOULD RECEIVE 36.
THE REMAINING 73 DELEGATES WOULD BE AWARDED BASED ON THE
PERCENTAGE OF THE POPULAR VOTE GARNERED NATIONWIDE BY CLINTON AND
OBAMA AFTER THE LAST DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY IS COMPLETED.
