(wgvu) - - JURY SELECTION IS TO BEGIN TODAY IN THE
TRIAL OF A MAN ACCUSED OF RAPING AND STRANGLING A FELLOW EASTERN
MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY STUDENT.
TWENTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD ORANGE TAYLOR III OF SOUTHFIELD IS CHARGED
WITH MURDER IN THE DECEMBER 2006 SLAYING OF 22-YEAR-OLD LAURA
DICKINSON OF HASTINGS. HIS FIRST JURY DEADLOCKED.
FEDERAL OFFICIALS FINED EASTERN MICHIGAN NEARLY 360,000 DOLLARS
FOR COVERING UP THE KILLING. THE UNIVERSITY ALSO PAID 2.5 MILLION
DOLLARS TO DICKINSON'S FAMILY.
THE CASE LED TO THE OUSTER OF UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT JOHN FALLON,
VICE PRESIDENT JIM VICK AND SAFETY DIRECTOR CINDY HALL.
