GREAT LAKES-HEALTH REPORT
(2008-03-28)
(wgvu) - A HOUSE COMMITTEE IS MOVING TO PROTECT A
WHISTLEBLOWER WHO WAS INVOLVED IN A CONTROVERSIAL DRAFT REPORT THAT
SUGGESTED POLLUTION IS CAUSING HEALTH PROBLEMS IN PARTS OF THE
GREAT LAKES REGION.
MICHIGAN REPRESENTATIVES JOHN DINGELL AND BART STUPAK SAY
THEY'RE CONCERNED THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION
MIGHT BE TAKING STEPS TO FIRE CHRISTOPHER DE ROSA, THE SCIENTIST IN
CHARGE OF THE PROJECT.
CDC SCIENTISTS PRODUCED THE DRAFT REPORT, WHICH WAS LATER
RELEASED AFTER ALLEGATIONS OF A COVER-UP. ADMINISTRATORS HAVE
DISTANCED THEMSELVES FROM THE RESEARCH, ARGUING THAT SOME OF THE
SCIENCE IS WEAK.
