(wgvu) - G GOVERNOR JENNIFER GRANHOLM SAYS
MAKING BETTER USE OF MICHIGAN'S RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES SUCH AS
WIND POWER AND BIOFUELS WOULD PROVIDE A BOOST TO THE STATE'S AILING
ECONOMY.
GRANHOLM SAID YESTERDAY THE STATE IS UNIQUELY POSITIONED TO TAKE
THE LEAD IN THE U.S. IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ALTERNATIVE FUELS FOR
TRANSPORTATION AND GENERATING ELECTRICAL POWER.
SHE FOCUSED ON THE ECONOMY DURING A "TOWN HALL MEETING" THAT
ORIGINATED FROM WOOD-TV IN GRAND RAPIDS AND WAS CARRIED LIVE ON THE
STATE'S SIX NBC TELEVISION AFFILIATES.
FIFTY PEOPLE FROM 28 CITIES AND TOWNS THROUGHOUT MICHIGAN WERE
IN THE STUDIO AUDIENCE. MANY GOT A CHANCE TO FIRE QUESTIONS AT THE
DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR.
