(wgvu) - LEDYARD, Conn. (AP) - Dow Chemical Co. says a fire in a pump
house used for putting out fires left one worker with slight burns.
Gales Ferry Fire Chief Richard Weiss says a diesel engine block
broke, causing the fire.
He says a worker who was burned slightly was taken to the
William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. Another worker who had a
high heart rate also was hospitalized as a precaution.
The Dow Chemical plant in Ledyard manufactures Styrofoam
insulation used for energy conservation in building construction.
Dow is based in Midland, Mich.
