PRIMARY SCRAMBLE
(2008-03-06)
(wgvu) - DEMOCRATIC OFFICIALS IN MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA
ARE THINKING ABOUT HOLDING REPEAT PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATING CONTESTS.
GOVERNOR GRANHOLM HAS JOINED TOP OFFICIALS IN HILLARY RODHAM
CLINTON'S CAMPAIGN AND FLORIDA'S STATE PARTY CHAIR IN SAYING THEY
WOULD CONSIDER HOLDING A DO-OVER CONTEST BY JUNE. THEY'D PREVIOUSLY
SAID THEIR JANUARY PRIMARIES SHOULD DETERMINE HOW THEIR DELEGATES
ARE ALLOCATED.
GRANHOLM SAYS CLINTON'S VICTORY OVER BARACK OBAMA IN OHIO COULD
OPEN THE DOOR TO A CAUCUS, IF IT CAN BE PRIVATELY FUNDED AND BOTH
CANDIDATES AGREE.
THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE HAD STRIPPED BOTH STATES OF
ALL DELEGATES FOR HOLDING THEIR PRIMARIES TOO EARLY. THE DEMOCRATIC
NATIONAL CONVENTION IS SCHEDULED FOR LATE AUGUST IN DENVER.
