Granholm Vice Chairperson
(2008-02-25)
(wgvu) - Members of the Midwestern Governors
Association have elected South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds and
Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm as their new leaders.
Rounds will become chairman, replacing Wisconsin's Jim Doyle.
Granholm will become vice chairwoman.
The governors were in Washington, D.C., over the weekend
attending the National Governors Association meeting.
Granholm says the dozen Midwestern governors already are working
on the association's main focus for the coming year: transportation
and infrastructure, which she says tie into climate change and
renewable energy.
Granholm says the governors want the Midwest to focus on
solutions that will help the states emerge as alternative energy
leaders.
