Detroit Mayor USA (wgvu) - DETROIT (AP) - Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has made his first
appearance before City Council since a text-messaging sex scandal
was reported last month.
Kilpatrick presented an economic stimulus plan at Wednesday's
meeting, and answered questions on city business. He later called
the meeting "cordial."
The council filed a motion Tuesday asking the state Supreme
Court to refuse Kilpatrick's request to stop the release of
documents related to an $8.4 million whistle-blowers' lawsuit
settlement.
The documents include references to intimate and sexually
explicit text messages involving Kilpatrick and his former top
aide.
Kilpatrick told reporters after the meeting that what happens at
the Supreme Court "is going to happen."
