CERVICAL CANCER-VACCINE
(2008-02-13)
(wgvu) - THE STATE HOUSE HAS PASSED BILLS TO
REQUIRE SCHOOLS THAT PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT VACCINATIONS TO
INCLUDE DETAILS ABOUT A VACCINE AGAINST CERVICAL CANCER.
THE BILLS WOULD HAVE SCHOOLS MAKE THE INFORMATION ABOUT HPV AND
ITS IMMUNIZATION AVAILABLE TO FAMILIES OF STUDENTS IN CERTAIN GRADE
LEVELS.
THE SENATE ALREADY HAS PASSED SIMILAR BILLS, AND VERSIONS COULD
SOON BE HEADED TO GOVERNOR GRANHOLM.
LAWMAKERS APPEAR TO HAVE BACKED OFF AN EARLIER PROPOSAL TO MAKE
THE IMMUNIZATIONS MANDATORY FOR SIXTH GRADE GIRLS.
