(wgvu) - - A DISPUTE BETWEEN CHRYSLER AND A
KEY SUPPLIER IS TEMPORARILY IDLING ABOUT 10,500 CHRYSLER WORKERS.
CHRYSLER PLANS TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE ITS ASSEMBLY PLANT IN
STERLING HEIGHTS, AS WELL AS ASSEMBLY PLANTS IN DELAWARE, OHIO AND
ILLINOIS.
DEARBORN-BASED PLASTECH ENGINEERED PRODUCTS FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY
PROTECTION FRIDAY AFTER CHRYSLER SAID IT WAS SEEKING OTHER SOURCES
FOR THE COMPONENTS IT SUPPLIES.
THE COMPANY MAKES A NUMBER OF PLASTIC COMPONENTS FOR VEHICLE
INTERIORS, EXTERIORS AND POWERTRAIN.
THE TWO COMPANIES NOW ARE NEGOTIATING OVER RESUMPTION OF THE
SUPPLIES.
