State police trooper who hosted drinking party dies in accident
(2008-02-04)
(wgvu) - MANISTEE, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan State Police trooper who spent
a week in jail for hosting an underage drinking party at his
Manistee County home has died in a car crash.
State police say 48-year-old Robert Marble died Friday in a
two-car accident that also claimed the life of his 57-year-old
mother-in-law Lucinda Gillenwater.
Radio station WKLA in Ludington says Marble was off-duty at the
time of the crash.
Two 16-year-old occupants in the other car received minor
injuries after their vehicle slammed into Marble's car at an
intersection. Investigators say snow covered roads appear to be a
factor.
Marble was sentenced in November after pleading guilty to two
counts of attempting to let minors consume alcohol. He was a
20-year veteran of the state police.
