HE MADE AN APOLOGY TO THE CITY, HIS SUPPORTERS, HIS SONS AND HIS
WIFE CARLITA, WHO SAT BY HIS SIDE HOLDING HIS HAND IN THE TELEVISED
SPEECH FROM THE CHURCH HIS FAMILY ATTENDS.
KILPATRICK VOWED TO REMAIN MAYOR.
A PROSECUTOR IS INVESTIGATING WHETHER KILPATRICK AND CHIEF OF
STAFF CHRISTINE BEATTY LIED UNDER OATH DURING A WHISTLE-BLOWER'S
LAWSUIT LAST SUMMER.
BOTH DENIED HAVING A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP.
BUT TEXT MESSAGES OBTAINED BY THE DETROIT FREE PRESS SHOWED THEM
EXPRESSING LOVE FOR EACH OTHER AND ARRANGING PRIVATE GET-TOGETHERS.
