Pro-, anti-Kilpatrick factions rally in Detroit
(2008-01-30)
(wgvu) - DETROIT (AP) - Supporters of Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick
rallied downtown this afternoon.
The mayor is in the middle of a scandal involving racy text
messages exchanged between him and his former chief of staff.
At a pro-Kilpatrick rally outside City Hall, supporters held
signs reading "Leave Kwame Alone," "Protect the mayor - protect
your city" and "Mayor Kilpatrick Progress."
The Reverend Horace Sheffield the third says Kilpatrick deserves
to be forgiven -- and should be judged by his overall character.
The demonstration failed to impress bystander Roy Black, who
said he's lived in Detroit for about 30 years.
Black says (-quote-) "When we elected him to office we didn't
ask for all this."
