STATE ADDRESS DESCRIBES MICHIGAN AS A PLACE WHERE ALTERNATIVE
ENERGY COMPANIES CAN EMPLOY TENS OF THOUSANDS OF WORKERS.
GRANHOLM ALSO SAYS SHE ENVISIONS LOW-INCOME STUDENTS ATTENDING
NEW HIGH SCHOOLS THAT PREPARE THEM FOR COLLEGE -- AND LAID-OFF
FACTORY WORKERS FINDING NEW FUTURES IN HEALTH CARE.
THE DEMOCRATIC GOVERNOR SAYS THOSE ARE THE WAYS MICHIGAN WILL
EMERGE FROM ITS LENGTHY ECONOMIC CRISIS THAT HAS GIVEN IT THE
NATION'S HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE.
GRANHOLM SAYS HER ADMINISTRATION WILL REFINANCE DEBT TO CREATE A
POOL OF MONEY FOR INVESTMENTS IN NEW BUSINESSES, TOURISM PROMOTION,
CONSTRUCTION AND ROAD PROJECTS.
