(wgvu) - CHRYSLER IS OFFERING BUYOUTS OF UP TO
$100,000 TO HOURLY WORKERS AT 11 OF ITS U.S. PLANTS.
IT'S PART OF A PLAN TO CUT UP TO 21,000 FACTORY JOBS -- ABOUT
HALF ITS U.S. HOURLY WORK FORCE.
EARLIER THIS MONTH, CHRYSLER MADE OFFERS TO WORKERS AT THE
JEFFERSON AVENUE PLANT IN DETROIT, AS WELL AS PLANTS IN TOLEDO,
OHIO; AND ST. LOUIS AND FENTON, MISSOURI.
NOW, THE AUTOMAKER IS EXTENDING THE OFFERS TO SEVEN MORE SITES
IN MICHIGAN, INCLUDING ASSEMBLY PLANTS IN WARREN AND STERLING
HEIGHTS.
CHRYSLER HAS 45,000 UNITED AUTO WORKERS-REPRESENTED HOURLY
WORKERS.
