Man gets life without parole for role in triple homicide
(2008-01-28)
(wgvu) - KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - A 28-year-old man convicted of
first-degree murder in the 2000 slayings of an elderly couple will
spend the rest of his life in prison.
Benjamin Russell Platt was sentenced Monday in Kalamazoo County
Circuit Court.
He was convicted in December in the deaths of 91-year-old Sary
Polderman and her 93-year-old husband, Marinus. They lived in
Kalamazoo County's Pavilion Township.
Platt also was found guilty of home invasion and perjury.
He was acquitted of killing Anna Gipson Lewis, the Poldermans'
daughter.
Kalamazoo TV station WWMT says two other defendants have struck
plea deals and two others are awaiting trial.
