Pfizer to donate $6.5M in surplus equipment
(2008-01-22)
(wgvu) - ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Drug giant Pfizer Inc. plans to donate
$6.5 million in surplus equipment to Michigan life-sciences
companies and universities.
Tuesday's announcement came a year after New York-based Pfizer
said it would close facilities in Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo,
eliminating about 2,400 jobs.
The Ann Arbor News reports the donation includes up to $4.5
million in equipment such as microscopes to the Michigan Innovation
Equipment Depot.
At least $1.25 million in equipment, glassware and laboratory
supplies will be given to University of Michigan, Michigan State
University, Eastern Michigan University and Wayne State University.
Pfizer also will donate up to $250,000 in glassware and supplies
to schools and community colleges.
