Michigan residents remember blizzard of '78
(wgvu) - Michigan residents are remembering the 30th anniversary of one
of the state's worst snowstorms this week.
The Blizzard of 1978 killed more than 20 people statewide and
left thousands of residents without power or stranded on
snow-clogged roads.
The National Guard had to help police reach motorists.
Snow began falling on parts of the Lower Peninsula very late on
January 25th. About 18 inches had fallen in some places within a
couple of days.
Winds were blowing at up to 60 miles per hour.
A state of emergency was declared for much of Michigan.
