MEAP Test Blame
(2008-01-18)
(wgvu) - State officials have decided not to cast
blame for a security problem that led to a retake of part of the
Michigan Educational Assessment Program test last fall.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports the decision came after an
investigation into the security breach that cost the state about
$500,000.
The problem arose after information about essay topics on the
MEAP writing test was printed in an October article by the Citizen
Patriot.
Not all Michigan students had yet taken the test. Thousands of
fifth- and sixth-graders were required to retake a part of the
exam.
State officials have considered requiring all students take each
test on the same day to prevent similar problems in the future.
