KEVORKIAN SAYS HE DIDN'T CAUSE DEATH, BUT ENDED SUFFERING.
KEVORKIAN EARNED THE NICKNAME "DR. DEATH" AFTER HE CLAIMED TO
HAVE HELPED AT LEAST 130 PEOPLE DIE FROM 1990 TO 1998. HE SPOKE AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA TUESDAY NIGHT.
THE 79-YEAR-OLD PATHOLOGIST TOLD AN AUDIENCE IN GAINESVILLE THAT
HE'S LIMITED IN WHAT HE COULD DISCUSS ABOUT EUTHANASIA.
SECURITY WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT FOR KEVORKIAN'S APPEARANCE. GUESTS
ENTERING THE ARENA WERE SEARCHED WITH A METAL DETECTOR. MANY
PRO-LIFE SUPPORTERS ATTENDED, THOUGH SIGNS WERE NOT PERMITTED IN
THE BUILDING.
KEVORKIAN WAS PAID $50,000 FOR HIS SPEECH.
