(wgvu) - THE ANNUAL DETROIT WINTER BLAST WILL BE HELD NEXT
MONTH, DESPITE LESS FUNDING THAN PAST YEARS.
THE THREE-DAY EVENT HAS A BUDGET OF 1.1 MILLION DOLLARS, WHICH
IS $200,000 LESS THAN LAST YEAR.
THE EVENT HAD A 2 MILLION-DOLLAR BUDGET WHEN IT COINCIDED WITH
THE 2006 SUPER BOWL.
ABOUT 450,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE EVENT LAST YEAR, LESS THAN
HALF THAT OF 2006 BUT MORE THAN TWICE THE TURNOUT OF ITS FIRST YEAR
IN 2005.
SO FAR, 32 COMPANIES HAVE STEPPED UP AS SPONSORS FOR THE
FESTIVAL, WHICH RUNS FEBRUARY EIGHTH THROUGH 10TH AND PROMOTES
DOWNTOWN DETROIT AND ITS BUSINESSES.
