OF THE YEAR AWARD.
THE WINNER IS EXPECTED TO BE HONORED AT A WHITE HOUSE CEREMONY.
FORTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD JUNE TEISAN (TY'-SEHN) TEACHES SEVENTH-GRADE
AT HARPER WOODS SECONDARY SCHOOL AND LIVES IN GROSSE POINTE.
SHE HAS TWO DECADES OF CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE AND WAS NAMED
MICHIGAN TEACHER OF THE YEAR IN MAY.
THE COUNCIL OF CHIEF STATE SCHOOL OFFICERS ADMINISTERS THE AWARD
AND PICKS THE WINNER FROM AMONG STATE TEACHERS OF THE YEAR.
THE OTHER FINALISTS ARE FROM CALIFORNIA, OREGON AND VIRGINIA.
