GOODWILL-EXPLOSIVE DEVICE
(2008-01-04)
(wgvu) - A GOODWILL STORE IN WESTERN MICHIGAN
WAS EVACUATED AFTER AN EMPLOYEE DISCOVERED A MILITARY EXPLOSIVE
DEVICE IN A DONATION BIN.
THE STORE IN NORTON SHORES WAS CLOSED THURSDAY MORNING FOR
NEARLY FOUR HOURS WHILE A MICHIGAN STATE POLICE BOMB SQUAD REMOVED
THE DEVICE.
THE MUSKEGON CHRONICLE IDENTIFIES IT AS AN M905 TAIL FUSE USED
TO DETONATE AERIAL BOMBS.
POLICE SAY IT CONTAINED ABOUT HALF A POUND OF EXPLOSIVE
MATERIAL, WAS LIVE AND HAD BEEN ARMED.
THE BOMB SQUAD TRANSPORTED THE DEVICE TO A NEARBY LEAF-DISPOSAL
SITE AND SAFELY DETONATED IT.
THE CASE REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
