Phone Theft Scheme
people devised a scheme to order expensive cellular phones and sell
them on the street at bargain prices.
Police found 37 packages of Sprint/Nextel phones worth $177,000
after United Parcel Service officials reported that one suspect was
following one of its drivers.
The suspects are 24-year-old Antwon Robinson of Detroit and
three Illinois residents -- 21-year-old Lauren Porter, 26-year-old
Michael Cook and 20-year-old Robert Jacox.
They're charged with conspiracy and receiving stolen property.
Police say the suspects ordered cell phones using existing
business accounts but had them sent to fake addresses.
