Blackwater Suit
(2007-12-19)
(wgvu) - A human-rights group has filed its second
lawsuit against Blackwater Worldwide contractors.
The suit accuses the security firm of killing an Iraqi rug
salesman in a September shooting.
Blackwater chairman Erik Prince is a native of Holland,
Michigan.
The Center for Constitutional Rights accuses the company of war
crimes, assault, wrongful death, negligent hiring and intentional
infliction of emotional distress.
The lawsuit involves a September ninth shooting in Baghdad,
where attorneys say Blackwater guards fired without justification
into a crowd of civilians.
The group filed the lawsuit on behalf of someone it says died in
the shooting.
That happened a week before another shooting where 17 Iraqi
civilians were killed.
