GR Ford Tree
over President Ford's grave at his presidential museum in Grand
Rapids.
The tree was a 45th wedding anniversary gift to Gerald and Betty
Ford from their children and grandchildren.
He was buried beneath the evergreen on January 3.
Now the tree has been decorated for the holidays for the first
time.
Family friend Marty Allen Jr. tells The Grand Rapids Press it
always was intended to serve as a Christmas tree after the former
president or his wife was buried there.
But the couple lived so long together that the tree outgrew the
museum's ability to decorate it.
So a company was hired to bring in a cherry picker for the job.
