Prep athlete from Grand Haven dies from blood clot in lung
(2007-12-18)
(wgvu) - GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (AP) - Family and friends are remembering a
10th-grade Grand Haven High School athlete who died suddenly from a
blood clot in her lung.
Funeral home visitation is in the afternoon.
The school's principal tells the Grand Haven Tribune that
15-year-old Alexandria "Alex" Crum was a good student with many
friends.
Crum died Saturday morning at North Ottawa Community Hospital
after complaining of shortness of breath. An autopsy confirms she
died of a pulmonary embolism.
The Muskegon Chronicle says Crum was on the school's varsity
girl's golf team, the ski team and was a leading scorer in soccer.
Crum's aunt, Anne Kivela, says her niece's friends have filled
her MySpace page with comments.
Crum's funeral is Wednesday.
