Ski Trail Grooming
(wgvu) - The Michigan Department of Natural
Resources is backtracking on its plan not to groom some
cross-country ski trails in northern Michigan this winter.
The DNR had announced last month that 16 state-owned trails
would not be maintained because of budget cuts.
But now, the department says it has reached a deal with the
Legislature that will allow most of the trails to be groomed ... at
least through mid-January.
Director Rebecca Humphries says the agreement will go through
only if legislators approve a supplemental budget bill that
provides general fund support for the State Forest Recreation
The trails are located in the northern Lower Peninsula and the
Upper Peninsula.
