Marine Discharge
(2007-12-14)
(wgvu) - A Lansing (Michigan)-based Marine
reservist who killed an Iraqi soldier was sentenced to a
bad-conduct discharge.
But 22-year-old Lance Corporal Delano Holmes of Indianapolis
will serve no more time behind bars.
He also was reduced in rank to private.
Holmes spent 10 months in the brig. He could have faced up to
eight more years of confinement.
A Marine jury convicted him yesterday of negligent homicide and
of making a false official statement in the December 31st stabbing
death of Private Munther Jasem Muhammed Hassin in Fallujah.
Jurors acquitted him of a more serious count of unpremeditated
homicide.
