Icy Lake Rescue
(2007-12-06)
(wgvu) - A mother and daughter are recovering
after four men rescued them from a car that slid into a rural lake
in Hillsdale County.
The passers-by pulled the girl from the car as it sank in Cobb
Lake in Jonesville on Wednesday morning and pulled her 45-year-old
mother from the icy water.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports 12-year-old Ashley Martin is
in good condition while a nursing supervisor says Bertha Martin is
stable.
State police tell The Daily Reporter of Coldwater that one of
the men broke out the back window to help the child escape.
After the men placed her in a warm vehicle, they pulled her
mother ashore and worked to clear her airway. The men think she was
underwater for two to three minutes.
