Michigan Flu

The state Department of Community Health says the child's
illness has been confirmed as Influenza B, a type of flu. The child
was not hospitalized and is getting better.
The department says sporadic flu cases typically are seen in
Michigan this time of year.
The problem peaks in late January and February, although it
sometimes happens earlier or later, depending on the strain of flu
and severity of the season.
People can reduce their risk by getting a shot, washing their
hands regularly and otherwise practicing good hygiene.
About 3 million doses of flu vaccine have been shipped to
Michigan this year.
