PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY
(2007-12-05)
(wgvu) - P MICHIGAN G-O-P CHAIRMAN SAUL ANUZIS AND
DEMOCRATIC ACTIVIST DEBBIE DINGELL WERE SOME OF THE DRIVING FORCES
BEHIND MOVING UP THE STATE'S PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY TO JANUARY 15TH.
EVEN SO, NEITHER WANTS A REPEAT IN 2012.
THEY'RE PROPOSING A PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY SELECTION PLAN THAT
WOULD DIVIDE THE 50 STATES INTO SIX REGIONS.
IT'S SIMILAR TO A BILL PROPOSED BY CONGRESSMAN SANDER LEVIN OF
MICHIGAN AND SENATOR BILL NELSON OF FLORIDA.
THE NATION WOULD HOLD SIX SEPARATE PRESIDENTIAL SELECTION DATES,
AND A LOTTERY WOULD DETERMINE THE ORDER IN WHICH GROUPS OF STATES
VOTE.
