Ford WIll Have Full 2020 Line-up
(2007-12-03)
(wgvu) - Ford plans to offer a full line of
vehicles in 2020 despite tougher federal fuel economy regulations
likely to take effect that year.
The lineup is to include trucks and sport utility vehicles.
Ford Chief Executive Alan Mulally (muh-LAHL'-lee) says the
automaker is committed to improving fuel efficiency no matter the
size of the vehicle.
The industry's fleet of new cars, sport utility vehicles, pickup
trucks and vans will have to average 35 mpg by 2020 under an
agreement announced Friday by Congressional negotiators.
It would be the first increase ordered by Congress in three
decades.
Requirements for 2008 call for 27.5 mpg average for cars and
22.5 mpg for light trucks.
