Green Could Make Green
make a considerable profit on a six-acre parcel of land in Kent
County.
Representative Kevin Green is a Republican from the Grand Rapids
suburb of Wyoming.
He signed a purchase agreement in May to pay $67,000 for the
land.
Green says he wanted to put a billboard on it.
But the Ada Township Board of Trustees don't want a sign there
and voted 4-3 to buy it from him for $329,000.
That's almost five times what he agreed to pay for the parcel.
Some trustees say they had no choice but to buy the land along
Michigan 21.
But Green says he's giving up a chance to earn $50,000 or more
each year in billboard revenue.
