TERROR-GUILTY PLEA

(wgvu) - A FORMER FORD MECHANICAL ENGINEER HAS PLEADED
GUILTY TO PROVIDING MATERIAL SUPPORT FOR THE LEBANESE MILITANT
GROUP HEZBOLLAH.
THE U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE IN DETROIT SAYS 47-YEAR-OLD FAWZI
ASSI ENTERED THE PLEA IN FEDERAL COURT.
AUTHORITIES SAY ASSI WAS LIVING IN DEARBORN WHEN HE TRIED TO
BOARD A PLANE TO LEBANON IN 1998.
THEY SAY HE WAS CARRYING TWO GLOBAL POSITIONING SATELLITE
MODULES, NIGHT VISION GOGGLES AND A THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA IN HIS
LUGGAGE.
HEZBOLLAH IS CLASSIFIED AS A TERRORIST GROUP BY THE U.S.
GOVERNMENT.
