ELECTION VICTORY AT THE FOXWOODS RESORT CASINO WILL LEAD TO STEPPED
UP EFFORTS TO ORGANIZE OTHER INDIAN-RUN CASINOS.
SECRETARY-TREASURER ELIZABETH BUNN IS NOT SAYING WHETHER THE
UNITED AUTO WORKERS IS WORKING ON OTHER CASINO ORGANIZING DRIVES
AFTER DEALERS VOTED 1,289-852 TO ESTABLISH A UNION AT THE HARTFORD,
CT., CASINO.
ORGANIZED LABOR SEES THE PROFITABLE AND GROWING NUMBER OF
CASINOS AS FERTILE TERRITORY TO INCREASE ITS PRESENCE.
THE UAW WILL REPRESENT ABOUT 2,600 DEALERS AT FOXWOODS. IT
ALREADY REPRESENTS ABOUT 6,000 GAMBLING WORKERS IN DETROIT;
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.; AND NEWPORT, R.I.
