- AN INDEPENDENT GROUP THAT ANGERED SOME
MICHIGAN VOTERS BY SENDING VOTER REGISTRATION FORMS TO THEIR PETS
OR TO WRONG ADDRESSES HAS APOLOGIZED.
BUT WOMEN'S VOICES. WOMEN VOTE PRESIDENT PAGE GARDNER ALSO SAYS
THE GROUP IS DOING A LOT OF GOOD. SHE POINTS OUT THAT HER GROUP GOT
MORE THAN 10,000 UNMARRIED MICHIGAN WOMEN TO REGISTER IN 2004 AND
2006.
SECRETARY OF STATE TERRI LYNN LAND SAYS THE WASHINGTON,
D.C.-BASED GROUP MAY HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS, BUT HAS CREATED A LOT OF
VOTER CONFUSION.
SHE SAYS THE GROUP'S MAILING LIST IS FULL OF ERRORS AND
OUT-OF-DATE INFORMATION.
RESIDENTS CAN CHECK THEIR VOTER REGISTRATION STATUS BY
CONTACTING THEIR LOCAL CLERK'S OFFICE OR VISITING THE ONLINE
MICHIGAN VOTER INFORMATION CENTER AT WWW.MICHIGAN.GOV/VOTE.
