MICHIGAN PRIMARY
(2007-11-27)
(wgvu) - THE STATE HOUSE HAS PASSED LEGISLATION
THAT WOULD PUT THE NAMES OF FOUR DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES WHO WITHDREW
FROM MICHIGAN'S PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY BACK ON THE BALLOT.
BUT LAWMAKERS WILL HAVE TO TRY AGAIN TODAY TO GET ENOUGH VOTES
SO THE LAW TAKES EFFECT IN TIME FOR THE PRIMARY TO PROCEED.
DEMOCRATS BARACK OBAMA, JOHN EDWARDS, JOE BIDEN AND BILL
RICHARDSON PULLED THEMSELVES FROM THE MICHIGAN'S JANUARY 15TH
PRIMARY BALLOT BECAUSE THE STATE VIOLATED DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL
COMMITTEE RULES BY MOVING UP ITS ELECTION.
HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON DECIDED TO STAY ON THE BALLOT, AS DID
CHRIS DODD AND MIKE GRAVEL. DENNIS KUCINICH TRIED TO REMOVE HIS
NAME BUT FAILED TO FILE THE CORRECT PAPERWORK IN TIME.
