Pets Being Sent Voter Registration Forms
(2007-11-21)
(wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - An independent group has angered Michigan
voters by sending voter registration forms to people who have died
or moved, and even to their pets.
The mistakes have caused voters to send the registrations to the
Michigan secretary of state's office accompanied by angry notes and
sarcastic comments.
One woman angrily noted that the application was addressed to
her dog.
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land says the effort by Women's
Voices. Women Vote may have been well-intentioned, but has resulted
in a great deal of voter confusion.
A call seeking comment was left Wednesday afternoon at the
group's offices in Washington, D.C.
The group says on its Web site that it wants to motivate the 20
million unmarried American women who didn't vote in the last
election to register and vote in November 2008.
