GAS STATION SHOOTING DEATH OVER COMPETION
(2007-11-16)
(wgvu) - DETROIT (AP) - Police say an argument over gas pricing between
station operators has resulted in the shooting death of one of the
men.
The 51-year-old owner of a Marathon station on the city's
southwest side is being questioned in the slaying of the
46-year-old owner of a neighboring BP station.
Police say the Marathon owner was lowering prices at his station
about 10:30 a.m. Friday when the other man came over.
An argument escalated into a fist fight before one of the men
got a gun and fired several shots at the other man.
The shooting is under investigation.
WDIV TV reports the argument started after the Marathon owner
lowered his prices by three cents per gallon.
