Michigan Unemployment
7.7 percent in October, the highest rate since late 1992.
Michigan has had the nation's highest seasonally adjusted
unemployment rate for several months.
The state's September jobless rate was 7.5 percent. The rate in
October 2006 was 7.1 percent.
State officials said the higher jobless rate this month reflects
short-term layoffs in the auto industry. The level of manufacturing
jobs in the state last month was the lowest recorded all year.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan's unemployment rate increased to7.7 percent in October, the highest rate since late 1992.
