Ex-FBI and CIA Agent Faked Marriage
(2007-11-13)
(wgvu) - DETROIT (AP) - An ex-FBI and CIA agent has pleaded guilty in
Detroit to faking a marriage to win U.S. citizenship.
Authorities say the Lebanese native's marriage cleared the way
for her hiring as a federal agent.
Thirty-seven-year-old Nada Prouty immigrated from Lebanon in
1989.
She got U.S. citizenship five years later and began working as a
special agent at the FBI's field office in Washington in 1999.
Authorities say she improperly searched an FBI computer database
for information about her relatives and links they might have to
the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
