LEGISLATURE'S BREAK
(2007-11-13)
(wgvu) - - IT APPEARS THE STATE LEGISLATURE ISN'T
READY TO FINISH WORK REPEALING A MUCH-CRITICIZED SERVICES TAX.
BOTH THE HOUSE AND SENATE CANCELED SESSIONS THAT WERE
TENTATIVELY SET FOR TODAY.
THE SESSIONS WOULD HAVE MEANT INTERRUPTING A TWO-WEEK BREAK HELD EACH NOVEMBER.
IT'S STILL POSSIBLE THE HOUSE AND SENATE COULD BE CALLED BACK
INTO SESSION LATER IN THE TWO-WEEK PERIOD.
LAWMAKERS ARE WORKING TO REPEAL A SALES TAX ON SOME BUSINESSES
SET TO KICK IN DECEMBER 1ST.
NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE ON A FINAL FIX CONTINUE BETWEEN DEMOCRATS
IN THE HOUSE AND THE REPUBLICAN-LED SENATE.
