(wgvu) - UNITED AUTO WORKERS MEMBERS AT TWO FORD
PLANTS IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, HAVE OVERWHELMINGLY APPROVED A
FOUR-YEAR LABOR AGREEMENT.
UAW LOCAL 862 PRESIDENT ROCKY COMITO SAYS ABOUT 80 PERCENT OF
PRODUCTION WORKERS AND 75 PERCENT OF SKILLED TRADE WORKERS VOTED
YES.
THE NEW CONTRACT CONTAINS A PLEDGE THAT A NEW VEHICLE WILL BE
PRODUCED BY 2009 AT THE LOUISVILLE ASSEMBLY PLANT, WHERE THE FORD
EXPLORER IS BUILT.
THE STATE HAS PROMISED 200 MILLION DOLLARS IN INCENTIVES TO
RETOOL BOTH LOUISVILLE ASSEMBLY AND THE KENTUCKY TRUCK PLANT.
RESULTS OF THE UAW'S NATIONWIDE RATIFICATION VOTE SHOULD BE
AVAILABLE BY MIDWEEK.
