Stem Cell Research
(wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Legislation that would lift restrictions
on embryonic stem cell research in Michigan soon could come up for
a vote in a state House committee.
The House Judiciary Committee heard more than four hours of
emotional testimony on the issue.
No vote was taken but one is expected soon.
Efforts to change Michigan's stem cell laws have fizzled in
recent years.
A group that supports lifting restrictions on embryonic research
has filed paperwork with the state that could lead to a ballot
proposal for its effort.
The group could target the November 2008 election if lawmakers
don't act first.
